Of course, as in any transaction or relationship, it’s best that you don’t ask for free stuff. This is especially important for brands trying to connect with influencers on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. If your brand has any kind of monetary value associated with it, don’t offer free products or use our services as a way of connecting with influencers! It’s mostly only acceptable to do this once you already have a long-standing relationship with the influencer.
Speaking of relationships, be careful about how you present yourself. Some influencers may not want to work with people who are new to the industry or do not have a lot of experience yet. So, it’s best, to be honest about your background and goals when reaching out.
On the other hand, don’t be afraid to ask for a referral. You might be worried that you’ll come off as too pushy, but if you reach out to someone with a genuine request and they say no, they’ll usually be happy to point you in the direction of someone else who can help.
