If you’ve ever watched a YouTube video, you may have noticed the text below the video. This is called a video description and is there to help viewers understand what the video is about before clicking play. The description is important for many reasons. It helps people decide whether or not they want to watch your video, and it can also help them find your channel when they search for something specific. However, if you don’t fill out your description, then Google will use its own algorithm to create one for you that might not be relevant to your content.

Keep in mind that you can edit your video’s description at any time. It will show up under your video when someone clicks on it. When they click on “Show More” at the bottom of your video’s page, they’ll see the description as well as any tags and comments associated with it.

However, it’s also important to keep in mind that not all videos need descriptions. If you’re just posting a video of yourself eating a sandwich or talking about your day, there’s no need for a description. However, if you’re posting something longer, like a vlog or tutorial, then yes, the description is where you should share what viewers will see when they click on your video.

When writing your description, keep these tips in mind:

Use keywords that relate directly to what’s happening in the video. This will help it get found.
Use action words like “how”, “what”, or “why” to make it clear what the viewer is seeing and doing
Don’t forget to include links! If there are any products or services mentioned in your video, make sure there’s an easy way for people to find them via their links
Write in third person instead of first person. This makes it easier for viewers who are unfamiliar with your channel or brand to connect with you.
