When looking for high authority websites, it’s important to avoid making common or amateur mistakes. These kinds of mistakes can end up hurting your overall SEO efforts.
First and foremost, don’t just look at the number of backlinks each website has. While this is a good starting point, you also need to look at the quality of those backlinks. For example, if one site has 10 backlinks from other sites that aren’t related to your niche and another site has 100 backlinks from sites that are all about your niche, then it’s obvious which site will be more authoritative for your purposes.
Of course, you should also avoid buying links from companies that sell them. That’s going to get you in trouble!
A lot of people assume that the first website listed in a Google search is the highest-ranked one. Don’t make the same mistake, because that is not true! Google’s algorithm is constantly changing, so what you see today might not be what you see tomorrow. Instead of relying on Google’s search results, go directly to the website itself and take a look at its Domain Authority and Page Rank.
Some people also think that if they find an article that’s been shared by lots of other websites, then it must be of high quality. However, just because something’s been shared by lots of different sites doesn’t mean it’s a good article, and if it hasn’t been shared by any other sites at all? That’s probably because it isn’t worth sharing! So, don’t jump the gun. To tell whether an article or page is really high quality or not, try reading through it yourself. Does it contain any spelling or grammar errors? Does it make sense? Does it provide any useful information or advice? If not, then chances are good that it won’t be ranked very highly by Google either.
Fourthly, don’t try to get links from sites that have very little inbound traffic themselves. These sites probably won’t have many visitors who will click through on your link anyway, so what’s the point?
Finally, you shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that just because someone else has found success with a certain website, it must be a high authority website. This isn’t always true either.
It’s important to be as thorough as possible when sifting through different sites in order to find high authority ones!
