In order to find authority websites, you need to know what constitutes an authority site.
A website is considered authoritative if it’s been around for a while, has a lot of traffic, and has a lot of links pointing to it. These are all things that Google looks at when determining whether or not a website is authoritative.
When looking for authority websites, there are two main tools you can use: Majestic SEO and Ahrefs. Both of these tools will provide you with backlinks and traffic data that can help you determine whether or not a website has authority in the eyes of Google.
Majestic SEO is free to use, but requires registration before you can download their data. You can also use their API for free at most sites.
Ahrefs is also free for up to 5 million API calls per month, which should be enough for most people, but does require registration before downloading any data from their site. What’s more, Ahrefs is one of the most popular SEO tools out there, and it has a lot of features, including backlink analysis, keyword research, site audits, content ideas, and so much more. Additionally, you can also find out how many pages have been indexed by Google on each site, and their domain authority (DA). The DA is a measure of how much trust Google places in each page, so higher DAs are better for SEO purposes.
Apart from the two previous tools we’ve talked about, there are other great ones that you can use to determine a website’s authority, including SEMrush and Moz.
Let’s start with SEMrush. This tool is another great SEO software that allows you to do competitor analysis and keyword research. Now, while this tool doesn’t tell you about backlinks like Ahrefs does, it does give you a lot of other information about competitors’ websites that might be helpful in deciding whether or not they’re worth pursuing, as far as link building goes.
Next is Moz Open Site Explorer. Moz Open Site Explorer is another great tool for finding authority websites, as it helps you find domains with high domain authority scores and also shows you their backlinks. That way, you can see what types of sites are linking to them, which gives you an idea of what types of sites might be linking to yours as well!
