Backlinks are essentially the index of the internet. They’re how Google and other search engines determine where your website is located in the hierarchy of the web. The more backlinks you have, the higher you’ll appear on search results pages, which means more people will see your content and click through to your site. This leads to more traffic, which means more leads and sales!

Moving forward, there are a number of great tools you can use to analyze backlinks on your site. These tools are Google Search Console, Ahrefs, and Majestic.
Google Search Console provides a high-level overview of your site’s backlink profile. It shows you which sites are linking to you and how many links they have pointing at them. It also tells you what kind of anchor text people are using when they link to you, if they’re linking with “click here,” for example, as well as how much traffic those links are sending.
Ahrefs is more detailed than Google Search Console. With this tool, you can see all the pages on other sites that link to yours, plus the number of times each page links to yours, the anchor text used on each page, if any, and how many visitors each page sends. Additionally, Ahrefs is one of the most popular tools out there. It provides excellent data on where your links are coming from, how much traffic they’re driving, and what keywords they’re ranking for.
Majestic gives even more information about the pages that link to yours, including things like their age and whether or not they’re likely to be penalized by Google for having too many links from low-quality sources. However, it doesn’t let you see which pages are linked directly from their homepage or blog posts, only from within articles.
