Google Search Console, or GSC, is a powerful tool for viewing backlinks pointing to your site. It’s a free service that Google provides to help you monitor and manage your site’s traffic and performance.
With GSC, you can view information about your site’s search traffic, including which keywords are bringing visitors to your site. You can also see how many pages on your site are indexed by Google and how often those pages are accessed by users. What’s more, if any of these stats change over time, Google sends you an alert so that you can take action right away.
In addition to all this data, GSC also allows you to view backlinks pointing to your site and even perform some basic management tasks like removing or adding links from their listings.
Once you’ve created an account, you can log in and go to the “Links to Your Site” section. This will show you whether or not Google has detected any incoming links from other websites. If there are no new links, this may indicate that Google hasn’t indexed them yet, so it’s worth checking back in a week or so.
If there are links listed, they will be grouped by domain name and ordered by the number of clicks they received from users on Google search results pages. The higher up on the list they appear, the more clicks they receive overall. You can click on each link’s name to see more details about it, like its anchor text and how many times it was clicked on by users overall.
Additionally, you can filter these results by clicking on one of the columns: “URL,” “Referring Domains,” or “IP Address.” For example, if you want to see only sites with a .edu domain name and no more than ten backlinks, click on “Referring Domains” then type “.edu” into the filter box and press enter, or click apply.
Overall, Google Search Console is a great tool to use when you want to see the backlinks pointing to your site. However, it’s important to keep in mind that Google Search Console only shows links that are indexed by Google, so any links that haven’t been indexed yet won’t show up on the report.
