It’s not going to do much for your link building efforts if, on top of being old, the website hasn’t been updated with newer and more relevant information in quite a while.
You should also make sure that the website you’re going to get a link from is relevant to yours. If the site has lots of content on it that’s relevant to your company or product, that can be another indicator of quality. If they’ve written about similar topics before, they might also write about yours!
Lastly, if the site looks professional and well-designed, with good graphics and formatting, that could indicate quality as well. Websites with poor design often don’t attract many links or traffic.
